Why Vans Are The New Go-To Shoe For Fashion Girls
From festivals and day raves to dinner dates, fashion's finest are taking to the 'gram and showing us how to wear this cult favourite skater shoe for any and every occasion.
Recently, you may have seen a video going viral showing that no matter how you throw your Vans, they always land upright. Which made us think: with a down-to-earth sole paired with a lighter durable fabric, not only do these iconic skate shoes always land facing up, but it seems no matter how you style them and for whatever occasion a pair of Vans are tossed into, they still come out on top. Given a consistent appearance on 'it' girls, influencers and celebrities, it's not hard to see how they fare so well in the casual apparel as well as the fashion world. In fact, Vans recent collaboration with buzzing British designer Ashley Willliams is a testimony to their clout in the world of cutting edge fashion. So we decided to conduct an experiment to prove just how versatile a Vans can be, seeking out just some of the ways these skater sneakers can slide into different style scenarios - and trust us, we weren't disappointed. We scoured our favourite influencer pages and incorporated our own trend knowledge to conduct this study, and spoiler alert: these perpetually trending trainers did their revision, because they managed to pass with flying colours, patterns and prints.
All Day Every Day
With the origins of Vans in the skater world, it’s not surprising that their transition from skate parks to street pavements was only a brisk walk away. To this day Vans continue to be a street style staple, to elevate your casual wear look to equal parts edgy and West Coast All-American. Casual wear can mean low effort, but it doesn’t mean lazy. To fulfil this fashion prophecy and style appropriately for the streets and the spring, meet a pair of solid shade dungarees with a printed bodysuit and slip on style Vans.
Ready For Brunch
What’s the best pairing for mid-afternoon mimosas? A cute pair of canvas trainers, obviously. Match your check lace up Vans with a pair of wide leg or kick flare jeans, a puff sleeve blouse and some trendy diamante hair clips to accessorise. Trust us, you’ll be thankful when you realise that your shoes managed to get you some stylish Instagram worthy pictures and let you stumble off sturdily into the rest of the evening after all that cocktail consumption.
Time To Rave
When it comes to how much you’ll find yourself dancing at a rave or a festival, a pair of flimsy sandals may face destruction out on the fields. To keep your creps in check and strong enough for the sesh, style your festival outfit with a pair of high-top printed vans with biker shorts, an oversized sports jersey t-shirt and a bucket hat.
An evening date is a common realm for the dresses and heels, but adding some unique casual twists to your flirty ensemble never hurt anybody on a romantic night. For an easy way to create your eye-catching look, just slide into a satin slip dress and pop on a pair of classic Ol’ Skool Vans, in a suede material and spring-evoking shade.
Get To Work
If you’re lucky enough to work somewhere you can wear trainers, we only ask that you make use of your privilege by putting together the occasional smart casual outfit that will stun the office; Complete with a check suit trouser and blazer, oversized white shirt, and a pair of Vans era trainers.
