Call me traditional, but nothing beats wearing a posh frock when it comes to a big event. As someone who spends a lot of time in a steady rotation of t-shirts, shirts, knits and jeans, I relish the opportunity to get dolled up in one single piece of clothing that needs little else to make a statement look. By their nature, dresses evoke that romantic, idealised sense of femininity that I rarely get to indulge in when sat at my desk, and summer is the perfect time to really lean into it with as many swishy lengths, pretty prints and figure-cutting shapes as possible.
With wedding season well underway and more than a few invites under my belt, the search for the perfect event dress has begun. I’ve spent countless hours scouring my go-to brands for dresses that will not only look great at a summer party, but that I’ll long to wear after the season is over too. Gone are the days where we’d buy a new dress every time we went out – now I turn to borrowing or only buying styles that I know I can style several ways for multiple occasions. Often, that means I’m willing to pay a little bit more for quality and design that will last – and for that, Boden are a firm favourite.
