This Brown Trout design was hand-drawn by Tina Lewis and it is cut directly into the walnut handle. This is made with Walnut and Hickory and engraved. The Wayward Landing Net is handcrafted in the USA! We believe that the best fly fishing nets are made with traditional craftsmanship and local materials and Wayward is proud to produce handcrafted wood landing nets right here in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We went through 4 or 5 different shapes before we settled on what we find to be a great balance of grip and comfort. Our nets are handcrafted with a teardrop shape so that the end of the hoop is large enough to pull in any catch, while the holes of the fish safe rubber net bags are small to avoid losing a smaller catch. We spend a lot of time picking beautifully grained wood from central Pennsylvania. It is important to stay close by so that we can have a hand in not only picking the most beautiful wood, but also in processing it down correctly. Also, staying local is akin to staying eco friendly. What is a Wayward Natural Landing Net? The Walnut handle is the centerpiece of the net hugged by a Hickory hoop with a Walnut pinstripe. Due to the natural characteristics of wood, grain patterns, colors, and textures will vary from one net to another. These variations are a hallmark of handcrafted wooden products and make each piece truly unique. When usable knots are identified, we stabilize them with epoxy to enhance and highlight the natural beauty of the wood grain. As a result, your Wayward Fly Fishing Net may feature these distinctive characteristics, adding to its individuality. While we ensure the highest quality craftsmanship, the appearance of each net may differ slightly from the images shown. Due to the increase of theft and loss, all wooden nets are shipped via UPS with signature required. Be prepared to sign for your order upon delivery if you are not home to receive your delivery, UPS will leave a notice.
