The Chuck Taylor All Star is everywhere again. From indie nostalgia to TikTok styling, here’s why Converse trainers are trending in 2026.
After years of chunky “dad” sneakers and hype drops, fashion seems to be craving something simpler again. Enter the Chuck Taylor All Star.
I'm serious when I say I've spotted them everywhere. But not in a way that feels overly done - just on the right kind of people. High-top Chucks with relaxed tailoring. Low-tops peeking out under baggy jeans on TikTok. Someone pairing them with a slip dress and oversized blazer like it’s 2007 again. Converse trainers are quietly back in the conversation and they feel cooler for it.
Part of the appeal is that the Chuck Taylor has never belonged to just one era. Originally launched as a basketball sneaker, Converse All Stars dominated the court for decades before migrating into music and subculture. By the late 70s and 80s, they’d become a staple of skate scenes before Kurt Cobain made battered high-top Converse part of the grunge uniform. Now you'll spot the likes of Bella Hadid out and about in a pair, paired with loose denim and vintage jackets, while Timothée Chalamet has recently leaned into their slightly scruffy charm.
The timing makes sense. Trainer trends for 2026 are moving away from bulky sneakers and toward slimmer, heritage silhouettes. The Chuck Taylor All Star fits perfectly into that shift: lightweight, simple and refreshingly low-key.
It also helps that Converse still feels authentic. In a sneaker world full of limited releases and resale hype, Chucks remain affordable, versatile and almost deliberately uncomplicated.
